Peel Off

28.03.2026 – 06.06.2026

CAMERA WORK Gallery presents the group exhibition Peel Off, dedicated to a distinctive photographic medium: the Polaroid. On view is an exclusive selection of 100 Polaroids by internationally acclaimed photographic artists. All works are unique.

The exhibition includes works by Peter Beard, Michel Comte, Sebastian Copeland, Patrick Demarchelier, Victor Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort, Esther Haase, Olaf Heine, Jean-Baptiste Huynh, Russell James, Helmut Newton, Rankin, Eugenio Recuenco, Martin Schoeller, Ruud van Empel, and Albert Watson.

The works on display range from fashion and portrait works to nudes and conceptual pieces. They present immediate moments, subtle studies, and iconic motifs, revealing the singular aesthetic of the Polaroid – shaped by its material presence, nuanced tonalities, and the unmistakable hand of each artist. In their uniqueness, the works possess a distinct and compelling presence.

The exhibition title Peel Off refers to the characteristic process of early instant films, in which the negative was peeled from the positive after development. This physical act of separation defines the moment of exposure and thus of revelation: the work emerges directly as a singular original, beyond any possibility of reproduction.
