The latest chapter of the exhibition series »Around the World« brings together more than 20 photographic works from five decades, all created in Greece. The exhibition explores how selected artists translate the landscape and nature with its distinctive light, the historic architecture and the unique cultural history of Greece into their artistic practice. Six photographers, six artistic perspectives: the works on view range from fashion photography and street photography to contemporary staged compositions and abstractions.
For Hans Feurer, Albert Watson and Ellen von Unwerth, Greek islands became stages between the late 1970s and early 1990s, for fashion series in »Vogue« as well as for von Unwerth’s »Guess« campaign with Claudia Schiffer. In rare historic photographs, Elliott Erwitt looks at the country and its people with humour and warmth. Dean West transforms the Greek coastline into hyperrealistic, graphic fields of colour. His works are being shown for the first time in this exhibition.
