Chris Levine: Inner Light

26.07.2025 – 20.09.2025

CAMERA WORK presents Inner Light, the first exhibition in Germany by the renowned light artist Chris Levine. Levine is internationally celebrated for his visionary portraits and installations, which use laser and light technology to open up new aesthetic dimensions. With over 25 works, this show is dedicated to his portraits, in which he depicts personalities such as the Dalai Lama, Kate Moss or Sir Paul Smith – and, as the exhibition title suggests, makes them shine. The exhibition also includes “Banksy (3D)” – the world’s only portrait of the street artist.

Levine achieved worldwide fame with his iconic work Lightness of Being. This portrait of Queen Elizabeth II has come to symbolize Chris Levine’s unique visual language. The artist navigates between the poles of art, technology and spirituality and uses light not only as a medium, but as an expression of an expanded consciousness. His works invite contemplative observation and create space for deep inner experience.

Chris Levine is one of the most innovative artists on the contemporary art market. His works have been displayed outside the pyramids of Giza (2024), at the National Portrait Gallery in London (2012) and as part of a solo exhibition at Sotheby’s (2019). Chris Levine’s works can be found in renowned museum and private art collections.
