Gered Mankowitz (*3.08.1946, London) is a British photographer known internationally for his iconic portraits and impressive work in the music industry. With a career spanning more than five decades, Mankowitz has immortalized some of pop culture’s most notable personalities with his camera, capturing their unique facets and characters.

Gered Mankowitz developed a passion for photography at an early age. At just 17, he began working as an assistant to renowned photographer Tom Blau. There he learned the basics of photography and developed his style, characterized by authenticity and a deep connection to his subjects.

In the 1960s, Gered Mankowitz established himself as one of the most sought-after photographers in the burgeoning British rock scene. He worked with bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and The Who, designing their shots for album covers and magazines. His ability to capture the essence of the musicians and express their personalities through his images gave his photographs a timeless quality.

Throughout his career, Gered Mankowitz has received numerous awards and has been exhibited in prestigious galleries worldwide.
