Precisionism in Photography (Floor II)

Online: May 24 until July 25, 2023

Precisionism in photography is a style that focuses on the representation of precise and accurate visual details. This photographic style emerged from American painting in the mid-20th century and evolved from »straight photography« with photographers such as Paul Strand and Berenice Abbott. Precisionists emphasize technical perfection and detail, exceptional clarity, and texture. Exposure and color reproduction are precisely controlled to ensure the most accurate representation of reality. This treatment produces clean and uncluttered compositions which are often characterized by geometric shapes and lines. Therefore, urban environments and architecture are among the most common motifs.
