The exhibition offers insight into the 30-year history of Martin Schoeller’s series »Close Up«, which has made him as one of the world’s most renowned portrait photographers. With his signature frontal perspective and consistent, unsparingly direct lighting, Schoeller photographs his subjects according to the same principle. The result is a series that presents different personalities on equal footing, inviting direct comparison.
Alongside the exhibition in the CAMERA WORK Virtual Gallery, Berlin’s Olympiastadion is showing a selection of portraits from the »Close Up« series in its Hall of Honour.
