Naomi

05.04.2025 – 31.05.2025

With Naomi, CAMERA WORK dedicates the first major exhibition in Germany to the supermodel Naomi Campbell. This group exhibition includes more than 30 photographic works by leading classical and contemporary photographers with whom Naomi Campbell has worked. The exhibition traces the supermodel’s artistic evolution. While her first working years from the end of the 1980s were characterized by classic fashion photographs, she always developed her style further and later embodied various roles in elaborate stagings that move beyond fashion photography.
The exhibited works, created between 1986 and 2016, are proof of the artistic synergy that Naomi Campbell has always had with the artists. Thanks to her iconization and her status as a role model, she managed to free herself from conventional image patterns. The results are provocative, demanding and complex works that reflect the model’s great artistic awareness. However, her influence in pop culture goes beyond photography: among other things, she participated in music videos by Michael Jackson and George Michael.
The following artists are represented in the exhibition: Bryan Adams, Michel Comte, Anton Corbijn, Patrick Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort, Russell James, David LaChapelle, Chris Levine, Vincent Peters, Herb Ritts, Ellen von Unwerth and Albert Watson.
