Jens Lorenzen

Jens Lorenzen (*1961 in Schleswig) did an apprenticeship as a carpenter before starting his study of painting under Prof. Hermann Albert at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig in 1985. While moving to Berlin six years later, Jens Lorenzen started his career as an artist. Since then, his body of work has been influenced by art historic and biographic aspects: visits in the USA, analysing Pop art or studying fresco painting from the Italian Renaissance. The ongoing series »Mauer I–IV« is regarded his main work. In the context of the finalization of the work »Wir sind Papst!« he was granted an audience at the former pope Benedikt XVI in 2010, when he gave him the work. Jens Lorenzen’s works have been part of numerous solo and group exhibitions and are presented at art fairs such as Art Karlsruhe, Art Miami, Kunst Zürich, Zona Maco in Mexico and Art Central in Hong Kong. In addition, his works are also part of some prestigious art collections (e.g. Axel Springer Verlag, Commerzbank, Museumsberg Flensburg, Norddeutsche Landesbank, Volkswagen Bank).
